Books Fashions was a cherished department store in Sunderland, fondly remembered by many locals. Located in the heart of the city centre, it was known for its stylish clothing and personal service. The store played a role in many significant life moments—people bought wedding dresses, coats, and special occasion outfits there, often recalling the quality and elegance of its offerings.

Owned and run by Hymie and Gertie Book, the store had a loyal customer base and was a staple of Sunderland’s retail scene for decades. It was also a community landmark, famously welcoming the Sunderland football team after their 1973 FA Cup win.

Books Fashions was eventually demolished in the early 1990s, but it remains a nostalgic symbol of Sunderland’s vibrant shopping past, with many residents still fondly recalling their visits and purchases.
