Restored reproduction of an original advert included in the 1930 edition of the "The River Tyne Its Trade and Facilities". Printed and published by Andrew Reid & Company Ltd. of Strawberry House, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Established in the late 19th century, Borries, Craig & Co. Ltd. operated from Southwick, Sunderland, building cargo ships, coasters, and tramp steamers for British and international clients.
Known for their efficient small-to-medium vessel production, the yard contributed to the Wear’s reputation as a global shipbuilding centre. Like many local firms, it faced challenges from global competition and eventually merged or closed during the mid-20th century, as the industry consolidated.
Though less prominent than giants like Doxford or Pickersgill, Borries, Craig played a vital role in Sunderland’s maritime economy.
Printed on high quality 230gsm matt archival paper.
