Restored reproduction of an original advert included in the 1930 edition of the "The River Tyne Its Trade and Facilities".  Printed and published by Andrew Reid & Company Ltd. of Strawberry House, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Founded in 1871 by shipbuilder Charles Mitchell, the company began as a ship repair yard at Point Pleasant, Wallsend. Under William Boyd, it evolved into a major marine engine builder, pioneering steel boilers and triple expansion engines by the 1880s.

In 1903, it was acquired by Swan Hunter, and famously built the Parsons turbines for the RMS Mauretania, one of the fastest liners of its time. The yard also supplied engines for British warships and commercial vessels.

Nationalised in 1977, it became part of British Shipbuilders, later contributing to offshore projects like the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. Though the yard closed, its legacy remains in Tyneside’s industrial heritage.
